lamin “The african viper” conteh

Momodou Lamin Conteh was born in the vibrant community of Sukuta, The Gambia. He is the son of Abdulrahman Conteh and Fatoumatta Drammeh. Lamin is the firstborn of his family and has five siblings.

While he dabbled in volleyball during his middle school years, sports didn’t initially hold his attention; it wasn’t until he turned 22 that he discovered his true calling in the boxing ring.

His moniker,”The African Viper” comes from childhood teasing of his small distinctive eyes, similar to Randy Orton, former WWE Wrestler. It not only reflects his physical traits but also his fighting style, as he is recognized for his quick strikes and deadly accuracy in the ring.

As a practicing Muslim, Lamin's faith serves as a foundation in his life and boxing career. He approaches each match with an unwavering belief that God is supporting him — he often says, "God has me." This conviction empowers him to fight fearlessly.

Lamin loves that boxing provides him with a platform to showcase his talent and allows him the freedom to express himself fully. He thrives on the spectators' energy, and once he steps into the ring, he feels invincible; it is the place where he truly belongs.

Lamin's biggest inspiration is Muhammad Ali, a legendary figure who excelled in the ring and demonstrated remarkable humility while inspiring others. Ali's death marked the first time Lamin publicly mourned an athlete, underscoring Ali's profound influence on his life. In addition to Ali, Lamin draws inspiration from other great boxers like Mike Tyson and Lennox Lewis.
